12 Day Rhino Conservation Experience Itinerary

For millions of years rhinos have thrived carrying their pre-historic and charismatic attributes, Sadly poaching and habitat loss have brought their numbers into a drastic decline driving them into their endangered state. This chill safari aims to meet the two African rhino species Black and White in their habitats, An intimate safari experience for rhino lovers, who are seeking to get into the rhino territories and learn how they live as well as interact with the amazing people doing all they can to protect these endangered species, All the while  supporting the conservation Organizations parks and conservancies on the frontlines giving them refuge,. At the end you will be enlightened and conversant with the challenges facing these rhinos and how we all can be part of their protection, with the hope that this intimate experience will be a great tool to help raise the needed awareness about their plight.

Day 1 : Nairobi

Arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Upon alighting and  clearance with the customs and immigration offices you will be met by our team who will transfer you for your overnight stay hotel.

Overnight and Meals At Emara Ole Sereni 

Day 2 :  Nairobi – Olpejeta

After breakfast ,Get ready for pick up where a member of  our team will drive with you for 3.5 hours to Olpejeta Conservancy arriving just in time for Lunch.Followed by an afternoon game drive.

Day 3  : Full Day Game Drive at Olpejeta

After breakfast head out on game drive on the plains of Olpejeta , Here 100 species of mammals and 300 species of birds call it home,one of the most innovative conservancies known for its successive conservation model, as well the largest black rhino sanctuary in East and Central Africa, Here you are bound to meet rhinos both black and white harmoniously grazing and browsing on the plains,It’s the only a place to see the last two Northern White rhinos as well chimpanzees that have been rescued from the illegal pet trade.

Day 4 : Full day Game drive at Olpejeta

This day gives you an immersive experience through some of the activities that Ol Pejeta Offers to enrich your experience, including bush walks with armed rangers,Meeting the K-9 Unit and learning how they work to help stop poaching, Meeting the last known Northern white rhinos,Night Game drive amongst others.

Day 5 :  Full Day Game at Solio Game Reserve

On this day we wake up very early, after breakfast we drive for a 1 hour 30 minutes drive  to Solio game Reserve, a hidden Gem of a sanctuary committed to protecting our endangered rhinos with an undisturbed ecosystem hidden from many that gives these charismatic species a home. A visit to the park will be an undisturbed experience as the ranch is usually not crowded by many people and you can enjoy your piece with our pachyderm friends.

Day 6 ; Full day game drive at Aberdares National Park

After breakfast we drive for around 3 hours taking a different route to Aberdare National Park, a moorland ecosystem with majestic waterfalls. This park will give you a natural feeling as ranges and mountains will be your surrounding during your visit. This is the only place you will spot the mountain bongo, suni the smallest antelope in Kenya and giant lobelia plant. Filled with majestic waterfalls in the country it’s a breathtakingly beautiful and unique environment. You will come to understand how important Aberdare’s ecosystem is to the people as it is a water catchment area and a home to many wildlife.

Day 7 Aberdares National Park to Meru National Park

After an early breakfast drive for about 6 hours and 30 minutes to Meru National Park, Arriving just in time for Lunch. Meru National Park  is a  beautiful wilderness surrounded with magnificent hills and rivers. This is where you will see a large herd of buffaloes grazing on . Furthermore you can sport games such as lion, elephant, cheetah, leopard, black rhino and many more other wild animals. Meru National Park has a great history of conservation and the home Of Elsa the lioness that was raised by George and Joy Adamson.

Day 8 : Full day Game drive at Meru National Park

After breakfast the search for rhinos begins on the Park’s bushveld with  luxuriant jungle, coursing rivers, verdant swamps, khaki grasslands and gaunt termite mounds. We will focus on visiting the sanctuary to see the rhinos.

Overnight and meals Rhino River Camp.

Day 9 : Meru National Park

This day is spent searching for other wildlife in the park and unravelling its unique beauty as well as the prolific birdlife.

Day 10 Meru National Park – Lewa Conservancy

After breakfast we drive 4 hours to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy.The Conservancy is home to a wide variety of wildlife including the rare and endangered black rhinos, Grevy’s zebras and sitatungas. Serving as a safe refuge for the critically endangered black rhino and the endangered Grevy’s zebra, as well as the elephant, lion, giraffe, wild dog and other iconic wildlife species in Kenya. The Conservancy is also home to more than 400 species of birds.

Day 11 Full  Day Game Drive at Lewa

This day is spent learning and immersing ourselves on the beauty of this Gem of a conservancy.

Day 12  Lewa – Nairobi

After Breakfast and packing drive for 5 hours to Nairobi for drop off ahead of the flight back home.
